How to Use the Nespresso Pixie

Step 1: Raise the silver bar so that its pointing straight up in the air

There is a thin silver-colored handle that extends from one side of the machine to the other. It looks a lot like the handle of a bucket, but make sure not to pick the machine up by this bar because that is not its intention.

Step 2: Place a cup under the nozzle of the machine

The space is big enough for small and medium sized coffee and espresso cups and mugs. You do not want the sides of the mug to be higher than the nozzle or else you'll have to tip the mug to get it out which will cause the coffee to spill.

Step 3: Put the Nespresso Compatible Capsule horizontally into the Pixie with the top of the capsule facing forward

Leave the capsule lid on! Natural instinct is to try and peel the top off before dropping it in there, but its imperative that this capsule remains sealed before use. The machine will actually puncture holes in the top and bottom of the capsule which will allow the machine to infuse the hot water into the capsule contents without spilling any inside of the machine. So its imperative that this plastic lid stays on before use.

Step 4: Pull the silver bar down so that its facing towards the front of the machine

This is almost like pulling a water pump to make the water come out. You will notice that this silver bar should lock into place. However, if you have an older model that does not lock into place then do not worry because the machine is designed to allow gravity to keep the handle in the down position.

Step 5: Push the appropriate "start" button on the top rear of the machine

There will be several buttons on the back of the machine (three or four depending on the model that you have purchased). Select the rear button that most accurately shows what you are trying to do. It will take the machine between ten and twenty seconds to start before the coffee comes out of the nozzle. This is nothing wrong and is just the machine super heating the water before pushing it through the compatible capsule. Often times these machines are so quiet that you will not even hear the machine turn on.

Step 6: Wait for the coffee to completely stop flowing before removing the cup
